ความปลอดภัยของ Wi-Fi เป็นเรื่องที่ทุกคนให้ความสำคัญ ไม่มีใครต้องการให้คนไม่รู้จักเข้ามาใช้ Wi-Fi ของเราใช่ไหมครับ วิธีการป้องกันคนนอกที่นิยมใช้กันคือการใช้ PSK (Pre-Shared Key) หรือ password ซึ่งปลอดภัยมากๆถ้าเลือก password ที่เดายาก แต่อีกหนึ่งวิธีที่เห็นมีคนใช้กันคือการซ่อน SSID (Hidden SSID) ซึ่งนอกจากรู้ password แล้ว client ต้องรู้ AP SSID ด้วย หากดูผิวเผินอาจจะดูปลอดภัยจนมีคนเข้าใจผิดว่าซ่อนชื่อแล้วไม่ต้องตั้ง password ก็ได้ แต่จริงๆแล้วใช้ Hidden SSID ไม่ได้ปลอดภัยอย่างที่คิดและอาจจะได้ไม่คุ้มเสีย กลไกของ Hidden SSID ก่อนอื่น เรามาดูกันว่า AP ประกาศ SSID ยังไง ตามมาตรฐาน Wi-Fi แล้ว AP ทุกรุ่น ทุกยี่ห้อ จะใช้ Beacon Frame เพื่อ broadcast SSID… Read More »Hidden SSID ปลอดภัยจริงหรือ

อาทิตย์ก่อนผมได้ไปทำ WLAN Audit ให้กับบริษัทข้ามชาติยักษ์ใหญ่ที่สาขาในกทม บริษัทตั้งอยู่ในตึกออฟฟิสสูงกลางเมือง เค้าอยากให้ผมช่วยดูว่า WLAN ที่ติดตั้งอยู่โดยรวมเป็นยังไง มีจุดบอดตรงไหน หรือมีอะไรที่ต้องแก้ไข ผมใช้ Ekahau เป็นอุปกรณ์หลักในการเช็คสัญญาณซึ่งก็เจอปัญหาเดิมๆทั่วไปเช่นเรื่อง channel interference ที่ 2.4GHz ที่เราแทบจะทำอะไรไม่ได้ หรือการใช้ 80MHz channel width ที่เคยเขียนในบทความก่อนๆว่าถ้าทำไม่ได้อย่าฝืน แต่วันนี้จะขอหยิบยกเรื่อง MBR หรือ Minimum Basic Rate ซึ่งเป็นตัวแปรอีกตัวที่ส่งผลต่อความเร็วของ Wi-Fi ที่หลายคนอาจจะไม่คุ้นเคยกันเท่าไหร่ แต่ก่อนอื่นขออธิบาย Basic Rate (BR) กับ Supported Rate ก่อนครับ Basic Rate คือ data rate ภาคบังคับที่อุปกรณ์ Wi-Fi ทุกตัวในมาตรฐานนั้นๆ (เช่น 802.11a/b/g/n/ac) ต้องรองรับ ส่วน Supported Rate เป็นความเร็วทางเลือกซึ่งตัว… Read More »MBR สำคัญตรงไหน และทำไมเราควรปิด 802.11b Data Rates

“Wi-Fi 6 รองรับ data rate ได้ถึง 9.6Gbps นะครับ คุณลูกค้าต้องเปลี่ยนมาใช้ MultiGig Switch ไม่งั้น 100/1000 ที่ใช้อยู่จะเป็นคอขวด วิ่งไม่เกิน Gig ครับ” มีใครเคยแนะนำท่านแบบนี้ไหมครับ เซลล์ท่านนั้นอาจจะพูดถูก แต่พูดไม่หมด เพราะด้วยลักษณะการทำงานของ Wi-Fi แล้ว แค่ทำ iperf ให้ได้เกิน 500Mbps ก็ยากแล้ว จริงๆเรื่องนี้ไม่ใช่เรื่องใหม่ แต่เป็นที่ถกเถียงในกลุ่มคน IT ตั้งแต่สมัย Wi-Fi 5 เปิดตัวเพราะ 802.11ac เองก็สามารถรองรับความเร็วสูงสุดได้ถึง 6.9Gbps (AP & Client 8×8:8 160Mhz ) แต่เรื่องนี้ก็เงียบไปเพราะ AP uplink port ยังเป็น 100/1000 แต่พอ Wi-Fi 6 เริ่มจะติดตลาด ทางแบรนด์ใหญ่ๆก็พร้อมใจกันเข็น AP… Read More »Wi-Fi 6 ต้องใช้ MultiGig Switch ไหม
